When contemporary architecture embraces nature to create a unique art of living.
Located at the entrance of Ville d'Avray, along the D985 road from Versailles, this residential project blends harmoniously into a clearing within the heart of the Fausses Repose National Forest. The history of Ville d'Avray, a formerly rural and wine-growing town that became a sought-after resort destination in the 19th century, has shaped its unique identity where nature reigns supreme.
Our firm, already familiar with the site through the completion of Les Sources de Caudalie in 2001, designed this project with deep respect for this verdant tradition. The project establishes a subtle dialogue between contemporary architecture and the natural environment, creating a true link between the two parts of the forest that the road had separated. The omnipresent vegetation envelops the buildings on all four sides, transforming each apartment into a true refuge within the canopy.
Architecture designed to maximize light and living comfort.
The positioning of the buildings has been meticulously studied to create two inhabited clearings, connected by a traversing green corridor that structures the entire project. The resolutely contemporary facades are punctuated by indentations that extend into the vegetation, thus increasing the linear openings and optimizing natural light in each dwelling.
The apartments feature large bay windows, generous balconies, and planted terraces, some private, others shared, all accessible to residents. The architectural treatment emphasizes noble materials, notably with light brick friezes striped with glazed lines crowning the facades, a modern reminder of the area's historic villas.
A perfect symbiosis between modern living and preserved nature.
The project stands out for its commitment to preserving and strengthening the site's ecological continuity. Two 10-meter-wide vegetated passages have been created on either side of the plot, allowing views and biodiversity to flow freely between north and south.
The outdoor spaces are treated with particular care: private gardens at the foot of the building, pedestrian paths winding through the vegetation, and a plant-designed fence incorporating a preserved historic gate. The entrance halls are distinguished by their wrought iron grilles, perpetuating the local tradition of wrought iron, while the vegetated facades and planted roofs contribute to the project's perfect integration into its forest environment.
