The International City

The decision of a prestigious school to open a house within the International City has reinforced the site's prestige.

President Vincent AURIOL personally came to inaugurate it. Originally, the residence consisted of a classic pavilion with 335 rooms, largely funded through a donation from the ENSAM alumni society, designed by architects Urbain Cassan, Max Bourgoin, and Georges Paul. The Building opened in 1950. As ENSAM's student numbers doubled, a second pavilion was built in 1961 to accommodate the increase in students. It was designed following the model of the first one. The two pavilions are connected by a footbridge that spans the brand new peripheral boulevard. In total, the residence has 710 beds (plus a gym installed in the most recent pavilion), making it the largest house in the International City.

The renovation

A renovation that preserves the image and presence of the facades.

The decision was made for a complete interior renovation while preserving the image and presence of the existing facades, allowing for the creation of 255 housing units in the old house, including one staff accommodation, integrating private bathrooms that didn't exist before and bringing all floors up to code in terms of sanitation and accessibility. The new house reduces from 299 to 226 rooms while maintaining the same comfort level and including a cafeteria.
